Landscapes from Arizona

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

I recently took a weekend away to Page, Arizona with my friend Steve Matera. Here are a few images from that excursion. Our first stop was at Horse Shoe Bend where we were able to photograph a cloudy sunrise.

After some investigating at the Bureau of Land Management office, we discovered that the permits we needed to access some of the areas we wanted to photograph were actually being issued at another location, which was hours away. Bummer! We quickly changed plans and decided to explore the North Rim of The Grand Canyon. Here you will see an image of an incoming storm on the way to the Grand Canyon.

The next morning we decided to hike in 4 miles each way so that we could get images of the Wahweap Hoodoos.

We next decided to travel back to Page. I was able to get a few images of the famous Antelope Canyons, located in the Navajo Park at Lake Powell.

That afternoon the closest location for sunset was back to Horse Shoe Bend.

Monday morning’s sunrise was the last opportunity before the two hour drive to Flag Staff. We were able to photograph some cliffs just outside Lake Powell.
